Tony Taylor from George Washington has been selected for StatSheet's A-10 Player of the Week for February 6th. Dezmine Wells from Xavier has won StatSheet A-10 Freshman of the Week. And last but certainly not least, Duquesne's Jerry Jones has taken StatSheet's A-10 6th Man of the Week. Taylor registered huge numbers in rebounding (4 per game), assists (5 per game), and scoring (23 pts per game). The George Washington senior played well in losses to Xavier and Massachusetts.
Taylor led the Colonials in scoring with 20 points and added 5 assists in a 59-58 loss to Xavier. He then led all scoring with 26 points and added 5 assists in an 86-75 loss to Massachusetts.
This is the first StatSheet A-10 Player of the Week award for Tony Taylor. The runner-up this week is our own Brian Conklin. Honorable mention goes to our own Dwayne Evans.
StatSheet A-10 Freshman of the Week: Xavier's Dezmine Wells
Dezmine Wells averaged 28 minutes starting both games for Xavier. In a late 59-58 win over George Washington, Wells chalked up 4 points and 7 rebounds. Following that in a 72-68 loss to Memphis, he led scoring with 19 points on 80% shooting.
Dezmine Wells has won the StatSheet A-10 Freshman of the Week an astounding 3 times. Jerrell Wright from La Salle gets runner-up. Honorable mention goes to T.J. Buchanan from Rhode Island.
StatSheet A-10 6th Man of the Week: Duquesne's Jerry Jones
Jerry Jones, a 6-5 Sophomore guard/forward, played an average of 23 minutes over two games for the Dukes. In an 83-73 win over Dayton, Jones put up 10 points and 2 assists. Then in an 81-72 win over Richmond, he racked up 14 points and 8 rebounds.
This is the first StatSheet A-10 6th Man of the Week award for Jerry Jones. Our own Jordair Jett is the runner up. Ronald Roberts Jr., a sophomore forward from St. Joseph's (PA), receives honorable mention. Saint Louis has yet to win StatSheet A-10 Player of the Week.
